Youngest nation ruled by oldest parliamentarians

How many politicians can call a spade as spade in public? Pretty few and Omar Abdullah is one. His famous nuclear deal speech where he supported UPA for the nuclear deal also making it clear that he is not aspiring to be part of UPA in future speaks it all. I know it is very difficult to make every one happy and when the issue is Kashmir and mixed population of Hindu and Kashmiri in J & K, it is all the more difficult from being called as ' Biased Politician'. But I personally feel that Omar Abdullah, the recent CM of J & K who also happens to be the youngest CM of Kashmir has the vigor and fire in him to bring back Kashmir on track.

I feel very ashamed to write that the quality and integrity of politicians is degrading day by day. We have resorted to the best possible form of murkier politics from brining crores of currency notes in the parliament to distributing currency notes to the voters.(Yes, I am referring to Jaswant Singh, former Finance Minister of India). I do not understand the reason as to - why there is no retirement age for politicians? Why a young nation like India is having parliamentarians who are in the age of 50-60? Why there is no entrance test like IIT, IIM, IAS to enter into politics? Is it so bad that none of the youngsters aspire to be politicians and hold the nerves of our nation in their hand with vision of making it one of the most powerful nation in the world ? Recently, the trend has taken a U turn and many new, young faces have joined politics like Sachin Pilot, Rahul Gandhi, Varun Gandhi, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Naveen Jindal but surprisingly their attendance in the affairs of the Parliament is poorest among all.

While these questions keep coming to my mind again and again, the future of India is left in the lurch so far we continue to be ruled by politicians like - Mayawati, Mulayam Singh,Lalu Yadav,Amar Singh,Arjun Singh, Sharad Pawar, Jaswant Singh (The latest one to join the list) and the list is endless.

It would be unfair to rate any politician as the most honest one in the gang without actually following him/her closely but at least Omar had the courage to speak his heart in the parliament and also apologize for supporting BJP after Gujarat riots. I personally feel that this (see the video below) is one of the best speeches in the recent past in Indian Parliament which is also made mockery ground by politicians like Lalu Prasad Yadav.

whenever i hear that mr.L.k.Advani is chosen as prime minister candidate from his party(BJP)
,always a question arise in my mind,on which grounds??because he has served for the party for long time.
i think this reason is not relevant.leaders like narendra modi should be given opportunity to serve.i think he is more deserving.
coming to your point about youth wants to be a part indian politics, they definately do.lots of fresh and meaningful thoughts are there.why only GRANDPOLITICIANS??
at last the question still remains the same.

Dear Rohit,

Thanks for dropping in.

I feel very sad to write that BJP has lost its essence.

Senior psrty leaders like Jaswant Singh is ditributing cash to people for votes. Fight between Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitely is an icing on the cake. The party has no depth and rahi sahi kasar Varun Ganshi ne poori kar di..

The image which was created by Atal Behari is completely spoiled. Few leaders like Yashwant Sinha and Narendra Modi can not do anything...

First of all very nice blog. gaurav recommended this to me. but i cant say that i agree to your views :).
Say about Omar abdullah whom you praised so much. Rememeber his very statement that he is not aspiring to be part of UPA. Where is he right now? Who are his allies! (Its another matter that I still support him and Nuclear Deal both but you can unquote the part where he said about being part of UPA)
And hwat kind of tests should politicians have? Isnt vote of millions of people test enough?
If wrong people get selected whose error is it? The politicians? The system or the voters themselves? And if it even crosses your mind that make a test o be eligible for voters then again what would be the criteria? Education or IQ or what? Also from your comment you look favorably at Modi while I am dead against him (Although we both fall in the same educated class). So atleast one of us is wrong.

Hi Sashank !!

First of all thanks for dropping in.

I categorically mentioned in the blog that Omar mnay not be right in whatever he does but his nuclear deal speech was really amazing. I dont think at that particular moment he was playing vote bank politics..Atleast he had the gust to speak his heart out..

Even I am not a fan of Omar but his speech was really touching..

So far as Modi is concerned I am 200% with him. I had been to Gujarat and let me tell you if you want to set up an industry in guarat , Govt will call you and they will do all the innitial set up..Let me also categorically say that, I am completely against Modi for whatever happened in Godhra..

If there is a killing attitude in any politician it is Modi.Tell me one state in india which has 24 hour power supply..Not one..

They talk about Modi crushing minority..Who creadted this minority..Congress..They create minority for dirty vote bank politics..atleast Mosi has the courage to say it aloud...

Well !! I know you wont agree to me because of Godhra but still if Modi is there for PM I will vote for him..

I personally had a word with Muslim in Guj who specifically said that he never had a problem in last 25 years...

It's not about right or wrong..The question is about who is less corrupt of all...

Keep writing..I like people dis agreeing to me as it gives me room for more and more thinking ..

"If there is a killing attitude in any politician it is Modi"
100% right...really killing attitude :)
next for me life is much more important than anything. i can never condone a person who has been a part of it. and this is cutting across party lines. tytler, rajiv gandhi (for his inaction), advani, vajpayee(same for inaction) and modi they all fall in this category.
for creating minorities? no matter how much development they do they dont deserve to be out of jail. just imagine what if someone from close to you suffers. then what will be your viewpoint. and i hope you are not in those club of people who say that modi was not involved in riots.
next for development. gujarat has always been more developed with respect to other regions. not only gujrat but western part of maharashtra (dont say that it was because of government), and even some parts of rajasthan (which has been traditionally involved in trading). i am not saying that it was not due to modi, i agree that he is hardworking, not corrupt and does want to uplift the state but still before all this hes a murderer. i know no many will agree to this but i still hold my view. same was with rajiv gandhi for all the technological development but before all that cam anti sikh riots which he ignored.
and one last thing: what do you think allows people to join terrorists and help them? do you seriously think that only the education in madarassas will make them so mad that they become terrorists? these kind of people who subjugate muslims provide terrorists them with manpower. after baabri demolition and subsequent riots they got support in mumbai to cause bomb attacks. in kashmir also as long as security forces remain too aggressive and dont do away with encounter system, terrorists will keep getting people for helping them. just a simple argument can be so effective: look what indians did to your family!
coming to omar i never said that i a against him. hes a good leader ( a little young but still) and i think kashmir will progress a lot under him. i was just pointing out the irony that was in that speech you quoted :)
and again i will say i can never condone a murderer no matter what other say and no matter how good he is.
